Trust your instinct. Your boyfriend is probably gay.
The problem for him is that he is only 16 and is totally confused
and he feels good and safe with you.
Most homosexuals don't know it at 16, and sometimes not until they
are adults.
You're in a position to be a really good friend and try to help
this guy come to acknowledge his true feelings.
You need to approach him slowly and not just come out with "Are
you gay?" But rather ask what's going on in his life, that
you appreciate the relationship you have had since you were children,
that you could tell him anything and that you hope he feels the
same.
If he wants to talk, he will, but it could take a while –
even years – but don't let go of your friendship because I'm
sure he really needs you at this turning point in his life. Homosexual
teenagers have the highest suicide rate among all people and its
from feeling alone in the world. Don't let your friend be a statistic.
