Reader Mabarosi Responds:
I disagree with Julia R.'s basic statement that the bad
boys, the "popular" guys, and the wild and outgoing
guys are the ones teenage girls go for.
Stereotypes Don't Represent Everybody
Unfortunately, it's hard to make a generalisation. All
girls around the 14 - 16 year age bracket (I'm guessing
that's the age of girls Nick would be wanting) are not into
those types of guys that's a stereotype. Not one
girl is the same, and that means that not every girl has
the same taste in girls as her best friend. Some like the
popular guys, but that's generally if they themselves are
popular, or if they want to be popular themselves. Some
girls want the wild and bad boys because it gives them a
thrill and more excitement in their dreary scholastic lives.
Some girls want the smarter boys, so they are capable to
have an intelligent conversation with them. Others prefer
the arty types, and still others don't have a particular
'type' of guy they like.
Girls Want Respect
I myself am a 16 year old girl, and I think that although
on the outside, girls may want something different, they
still want a guy who will respect them, make them even happier,
and treat them well.
Sure, the bad boys may be fun for a little while, but
not many people want to be continuously treated like trash.
If they do, then they do have a self-esteem issue themselves.
Teen Relationships Rarely Last
Nick, having a girlfriend may make you happier, but it's
not the point of life to have someone to kiss. Teenage relationships
rarely last for the rest of your life, and they are basically
just hormonal anyway. Try not to worry about it too much.
Take care of yourself!
