Dear Sarah,
Porn Makes Me Uncomfortable
In a word, yes. I personally have a problem with porn, particularly
on-line.
My Ex Used My Credit Card for Porn
Especially since somebody stole my credit card number and I was
unknowingly subscribed to a porn site for three months at $60 a
month. When I told my (now ex-)boyfriend about it, he asked
which credit card because he had tried with our joint credit card
but it didn't work. I was infuriated. Especially since
he had agreed to cancel his Playboy subscription. For me,
I think it was partially financial that pissed me off. He
couldn't take me out to a nice dinner, but he could rationalize
spending the $30 on magazines or whatever.
My Mom Is Cool with It
Other than that, I'm not sure what my problem is with porn.
My mom was always cool about my dad having magazines or movies or
even going to strip bars, so I would think I'd be okay with it.
Maybe it lies more in the idea that they are happily married and
secure about their relationship, while my boyfriend and I were still
in the stage of testing the waters of trust with one another.
I needed for him to tell me that he liked the magazines in the same
way that I like watching Vince Vaughn movies, but instead he gave
the dumb guy response that I wouldn't understand and It's no big
deal and that only made me feel worse.
Most of all, he never made me feel like those glossy pictures had
nothing on me, so now he can have the magazines all he wants.
I hope those glossy pages make him happy.
