Dear Panel,

I was wanting to meet new friends, etc. on the internet. Met this one person very nice later to find out this person is 16 years older than I am. There's no way I could be interested in that big a age difference. 6 years older than I am is too old for me. Should I just drop this person cold turkey or what?

Confused and Ill

Judith Answers:

IMO, a relationship that has built up on the internet solely (no personal interaction) requires a minimum commitment. Like, none. Dropping the person cold turkey would be just fine.

Now, if you feel more committed than that, and don't feel comfortable doing the cold turkey thing, a quick note saying you have a problem with the age difference and are breaking off communication would be honest and fair.
