Do platonic guy-girl relationships exist?

I agree because I am in this situation as we speak.

I thought that at 17, I could just be friends with this guy who had a girlfriend. As time wore on though, we grew very attached to each other and began to like each other in a romantic way. We talked about it and decided to stay friends for the time being.

Right now we are "best friends", but it is really hard. Really hard.
