I hate to say it, but
Valentine's Day is such a big deal because so much commerce is riding
on it. Last year I spent over $250 on lingerie, new perfume, a gift,
and dinner.FOR
ONE DAY!!!
Although I think that
celebrating love is important, it should be important every day
and on personal special occasions, rather than just on a day the
card industry tells us is important.
I think the best way
to celebrate the SPIRIT of Valentine's Day is to make an effort
every day to show those you care about that they are important to
you. Listen to what people say. When you are out shopping pick up
something special for a friend just because you know they will like
it. Whether you are in a relationship or not, spend as much time
as possible with people you love (rather than your overbearing boss,
the "friends" on NBC, etc!) Surround yourself and others with the
things that make you happy.
