I agree -- I
love dancing and I used to go out 3 times a week in high
school (an underage "dry" club what a great
concept!).
No
Chance To Screen People
A disco is one
of the most nerve-wracking and unlikely places to meet anyone
you'd seriously want to date. There is such a heavy pickup
vibe, and so little chance to screen people subtly, that
its almost a lost cause unless you are really blunt about
just wanting sex. and then of course that's the kind of
girl you get. I mean, you can't really talk to anyone, can
you?
Don't
Break Our Dance Circle
And in my experience
the least positive gesture snowballs into sexual come-ons
way faster than I am comfortable with. So what do I do?
What millions of disco girls around the world do: get a
girlfriend or four to dance with and close ranks. We dance
together, are not very open at all to guys who try to break
into our circle and will only take seriously guys we get
a chance to talk to (if humanly possible in that noise)
at the bar or something.
Look,
But Don't Touch
If you seem like
you are there just to have fun as well and aren't too heavy,
women will slowly warm up to you. But bottom line is that
discos are full of scantily clad women who want to be admired
but not touched. We're not (all) stuck up; just defensive.
