Dear Panel,

I met a man online last spring. We talked almost every day until September. I visited him once during the summer. I am in Indiana and he is in Texas.

He's told me that he's met a girl locally who he's been seeing.

My problem is that I didn't realize until we stopped talking how much he came to mean to me. I tried to tell him, but I was nervous and then he told me about the girl. I've stopped trying to talk with him because I don't want to intrude, but I just can't seem to get over him. Most of all, I miss the friend I had for several months. Part of the problem is he didn't tell me until November that he'd met someone (back in September), but the last time we spoke he said to keep in touch.
