Dear Holland,
Breaking Up Is Hard At Any Age
Fifteen year olds get very sad. What is hard for adults is even
harder for kids - kids think everything is their fault and
have trouble realizing that a breakup is not only not the end
of the world, but isn't even the end of your social life.
Break-ups are hard on adults, too, but its a little easier to put
them in perspective. And they happen, but, just like when we are
fifteen, the world doesn't end, we eventually get over it (and a
little more quickly) and move on to meet new people and feel happy
again.
Fear Is Not A Good Reason To Stay
A fear of risk is a HORRIBLE reason to stay involved with someone
you are not in love with. No one deserves to be a social crutch.
Do this guy and yourself a favor. Tell him you can't be a girlfriend
to him now.
You'll feel better. You will have to take risks but will feel more
and more confident and more wise the more chances you have to make
choices for yourself about your own life.
