I wonder why you spend so much time thinking about him. He certainly sounds nice enough from your description, but what exactly is it about him that has caused you to be obsessed for more than a year? I don't mean this to put him or you down. I think you need to be honest with yourself.

Tell Him Why He Is Special To You

He may be special, but she is young and should still enjoy other boys.

If there is something really special about him figure it out, and then tell him. Don't tell him you are in love with him! Just tell him you think he is special because ____ (you'll have to fill in the blank).

This will do two things: it will let him know that you actually like him rather than just being obsessed; and it will give him the opportunity to think about what he finds special in you (the staring indicates that he at least finds you intriguing).

Just Be Honest

If she were honest with herself, she'd realize he's just playing the field!

Being honest with yourself and with him will free up a lot of your time spent agonizing. It will allow you to move on either to a relationship or to a friendship.
