Dear Girl in a Glen,
After reading all 20 pages of your question and Steve's response,
I could only think of one thing:
Obviously You Want Steve
If you didn't already know you want to give Steve another chance,
you would've had the "other person" question go to someone else
like your boyfriend Matt.
It's so obvious you love each other and you want to be together
but you are both too cynical to think that its okay to make sacrifices
to be with the person you love.
First of all, if you really want things to work out with Steve,
you need to let Matt go. Its not fair to him to string him along
and you are jeopardizing your relationship with Steve. He sounds
like a great guy but if you wait, you'll hurt him a lot more.
Second of all, I personally don't believe long distance relationships
can work. If you and Steve want to be together, one of you has to
compromise and in this case it sounds more feasible that it should
be you, being that he's in med school.
You're
Being Greedy
Which brings up my issues with you being so greedy about him not
paying attention to you. If you can't handle the fact that he's
still in school you will never work out. Or maybe you'll be one
of those couples that gets married when you're in your 70's and
think about all that time you wasted living your lives without each
other.
Whatever the case, somethings got to give if you're to be together.
Last, decide if the above is something you're willing to do. If
you stay in different states, stay with Matt, you very well could
be a happy person and lead a happy life, but you'll never stop thinking
of what could've been. You and Steve seem perfect together'annoying
as hell as that is to me, you just need to acknowledge it and do
something about it or lose it forever.
