Here's a thought: Maybe he IS avoiding you because he senses that you're interested in him.

Maybe he'd like to keep his job and stay out of jail?

Those are things that he won't be able to do if he encourages any sort of romantic feelings you have for him.

Even if she does have a crush on him, she can approach him to be her mentor.

Please don't approach him if those are the sort of feelings you want to express.

Appropriate Attention

However, if you admire him as a teacher, friend or mentor, tell him so! That kind of attention is perfectly appropriate to a student-teacher relationship.
