Dear Panel,

I recently started seeing a girl, but one of her guy friends that she has known for a while is causing problems.

I don't really know this guy, but he told her that I had a serious girlfriend and that she was just a side-dish.

This is absolutely not true, but she trusts him a good deal more than me because she has known him that much longer. I believe that he wants to date her, and that is why he is making this stuff up.

I have already tried to assure her, but I can tell she doesn't really believe me. What should I do?
