Patra responds:
I disagree because I never think we are too young to know
what love looks and feels like.
By the time we are 12, I believe that we all have a very
good idea about what love is. And regardless of our age,
most of the time love comes and passes.
The only thing that changes is how we express that love.
At 12, I don't think he can go to her and try to explain
his feelings-at least until he gets to know her better.
I get nervous and jittery just thinking about that, and
I am a grown woman!!
He should just tell her that his friends were lying. If
she believes him, he can begin to be her friend.
Let her know you care by giving her small things- a pack
of gum, a frienship bracelet- to let her know that you have
sincere, special feelings for her. I think she will be touched
by these small tokens, and realize that your feelings are
different than your nosey, silly friends have led her to
believe.
While you are too young for a physical relationship, how
you deal with her may set a pattern for how you treat your
future girlfriends. Make me proud. Don't hide your feelings
away.
