Why can’t I look at beautiful women?

Reader Emily said:

It is terrible that women are force-fed sexist expectations of their sexuality, and it accounts for many many women having low self-esteem.

Reader Sasha Responds:

I disagree because the market drives the product, or so we are led to believe in this, the most materialistic of ages.

If we were to reveal the editorial staffs of major men's and women's magazines we'd find that a significant percentage of them are women to begin with. In many cases, women are their own worst enemies when it comes to self-image. If anything, men have remained consistent in their image of the perfect woman – pretty, large breasted, etc.

The Female ideal of women is always changing - likely due to the schizophrenic nature of fashion trends and presentation. But one thing always remains the same: men will be attracted to women that feel good about themselves and project a positive aura.
