Should I marry my love or the father of my baby?

Mo Answers:

Dear True Love,

Birth Control

I would imagine from the way you mention your pregnancy, that is was not an expected event. Contact your local doctor or Planned Parenthood office for information about contraceptives that might be right for you.

Don't Marry without Love

Sistergirl I disagree. There's nothing like an old-fashioned family.

You should never marry someone you don't love for the sake of any unborn child under any circumstances. If you want to do something for the child, remain friends with its father so that the child will not have to feel bad about spending time with either parent separately or both parents together.

In these modern times in which we live, plenty of kids do not live with both biological parents. Many of them are happier for it.

Don't Let the New Man Interfere

Regarding your new man, I have two suggestions:

  1. Don't let your relationship with him interfere with your time with the baby. New romances can be all-encompassing; it's easy to forget that you have other things in your life.

  2. Don't let this man into your child's life until you are certain that he will be permanent. Children need constancy to help them feel safe and to grow into normal, healthy adults.

All Three of You Should Talk

Most importantly, the three of you should sit down and discuss your options. Ultimately, this is your decision alone, but the two men may have some good ideas on how best to solve your dilemma.

Congratulations!
