Business Meals Are Required
Women in the working world are required to socialize with colleagues
in a whole variety of capacities. Women take business trips with
male coworkers, women have dinners with the boss for late-night
strategy sessions. Not only is it normal, if you want to get ahead
in business, you have to be willing to log the extra time to make
the connections and have the meetings that are necessary.
If your male coworkers are making advances, tell them to back off
and join the 21st century. But, my guess is you're just doing your
job well.
A Backward Industry
The construction industry is notoriously backward and disgusting
for the way it treats women. Women are objectified – hooted
and whistled at as they pass job sites. Pornographic images of women
in machine shops are often standard fare. The men your husband associates
with may be giving him a hard time for having a wife who works at
all.
You know what? Tell them to all shove it.
