Has anyone turned rejection into a relationship?

A Guest Answers:

Dear Looking for Stats,

Depends on Your Gender

Reader I disagree. I was originally rejected by my boyfriend.

I was a little worried for you until I reread your question and saw that you were a guy.

Charlie It depends on the context. If she says it AFTER a romantic date, that's BAD.

In my experience, women are much more liable to say this and really mean "I need a closer look" than a man. I wouldn't take it as a good sign if a man said this, but I think it is a sign of maturity for a woman not to jump into a relationship.

Once your heart takes a couple of beatings, as most people have by the time they are in their early thirties, you tend to try to inch into the pool of love with a lot of caution. That getting swept of your feet thing can take a lot out of you. Frankly, I equate it with bungee jumping – it's for kids!

Women Are Just Cautious

Anyway, I think there is a possibility that the women you are attracted to are just cautious. And I can't emphasize enough that there really is nothing like being romantically involved with a person with whom you are friends first. It just requires a little more patience.

I Had Just "Wanted To Be Friends"

Lefty So when YOU said "Let's be friends", you meant it. Most women say it when they mean "Get lost!"

Incidently, my current boyfriend and I were friends first for a couple of months before we started dating. I wanted to just be friends because when we met I was still getting over my ex. It's really kind of funny because he did go from "being there for me" to "just being there", just like Seinfeld!

Well, there's your answer, don't give up!

Good luck!!
Patra
