Why can't I accept guys liking me?

Jayne Answers:

Dear Carmela,

Self-Esteem Problem

Charlie

I agree. She needs to love herself first.

It seems you might have a little self-esteem problem with accepting guys liking you, which is messed up if you're not hideous and you're pretty much a cool person.

What are you afraid of? Rejection? That you'll become attached and he will leave you?

Fear of Rejection

Buddy

It could be fear. But it could also be that her standards are too high.

Please, rejection is a part of growing up, but it's not the only part of growing up. That means that you can have a great relationship with a great guy that you like, without worrying about every little thing. So don't pass it up the next time you have an opportunity you'd like to take advantage of.

Everything Feels Weird the First Time

Charlie

Of course it feels weird. Boys are icky.

Try accepting the fact that you're attracted to him, and he's attracted to you. Then let it go from there. It might feel weird at first, but then again, everything you try for the first time feels a little weird.

If you're sure you're attracted to guys in general, and you're sure you're not hideous, then there should be no problem in having a relationship that you can be happy with.
