Sure, it really sucks seeing your girlfriends
holding hands with their boyfriends, but nine times out of
ten, relationships at that age DO NOT last forever!

Perhaps that's part of the problem – the idea that relationships
at such a young age are supposed to last
forever.
Date for Fun
I think honestly one of the best things that that girls (and women)
can do for themselves is learn how to date for fun, NOT for serious
intention.
I won't say that a guy shouldn't be in your thoughts right now,
because they obviously are and I honestly can't think of a single
female who didn't think of "boys" (or their own preference)
through high school. It's a part of the fun of growing up. But it's
definitely supposed to be the FUN part.
Find What Guys Can Bring to Your Life
Try taking a look at those guys around you for exactly who they
are and find out if they, as they are, can bring something to your
life. Try not to approach every guy as someone serious in your life
– maybe one makes you laugh, maybe one makes you think –
or one could just be a good guy to go to the movies with.
In any case, you've never dated before. You've never had a boyfriend
before, so you have some trial and error ahead of you. Dating is
about finding out what you DO want, in a relationship, in a guy,
in yourself – and it should be fun along the way. Enjoy it!
