Get Your Friends To Back You Up
I would highly recommend you go to the police with your story and
try to get your friends to back you up – they witnessed the
whole thing: the knife, the restraining. He basically kidnapped
you, threatened you with a deadly weapon and then raped you.
Sometimes Women Think They Deserved It
These things, "don't just happen to everyone", but they
happen to enough women that sometimes women think they deserved
it.
You didn't deserve it!
You were violently assaulted and were too embarrassed to do anything
about it.
There Will Be More Victims
Please know that you are not alone and that there are laws to protect
you and other people from monsters like this jerk. You owe it to
his next victim – and there will be more – to go to the
police.
Talk to an Attorney
On the other hand, I hope your friends will back you up on this.
You might want to talk to an attorney first and get his or her opinion
of the legal issues here. The problem with rape cases is that it
can be "he said" "she said". But, in this case,
there were people who saw what he did to you.
First Talk to a Rape Counselor
Maybe the best thing to do is to talk to a professional rape counselor
about this. She can advise you about all of your choices. She can
also help you determine the best ways to deal with your pain and
other feelings around this issue. So that would be the first thing
I would do if I was in your shoes.
