Confuzzled Elise,
Definitely talk to him if you want to keep the friendship. You
can't be friends if you don't even communicate. And if you wanted
to work it out, you've got to talk first.
He Was Worried
Look, sometimes when one person in a relationship breaks up with
the other, then the dumpee feels insecure later after they have
gotten back together. So, maybe after a while he was worried that
it wouldn't work out further down the road. Did he just break up
with you out of the blue? Or were you arguing?
Have a Heart-to-Heart with Him
Just have a heart-to-heart with him. Approach it in a way that
won't make him feel guilty or to blame. That's the last thing you
want to do. It could hurt your future friendship, or any future
with him at all.
Be understanding about his feelings and the reason he broke up
with you. Don't let his reason anger you or make you feel bad. If
you feel bad, it's not worth talking about.
