He May Not Know What Love Is
I think you were right when you said that he might be a little
confused. If he has never been in a long term relationship he may
not know what love is.
Love Takes Time To Develop
Love doesn't happen overnight. Love takes time to develop, otherwise
it won't last. He may not understand this because he has never been
in a long term relationship.
I don't think you should throw away what you two have together.
Good relationships with connections are sometimes hard to find.
If neither one of you is ready to say "I love you", then
you should wait.
Waiting is much better than rushing into something that you might
regret later on.
Live in the Moment
He might be a little afraid as well. For someone who has never
had a lasting relationship, the prospect of love and a future may
be a little daunting. I say live in the moment. There's no reason
to rush things. Enjoy your relationship with him, and the rest will
come with time.
