You have got to be kidding me. Did you read what you wrote?? "All
she had to do is make me feel better about myself."
Why is it HER responsibility to make YOU feel good about yourself?
Have you considered doing that on your own?
While a relationship requires committment on both parts to work
things out, it definitely doesn't require taking ownership of your
partner's feelings.
You aren't "teaching" her how to help you, you are:
- giving her the power to decide how you feel about yourself,
and
- blaming her for your own insecurities.
How you feel about yourself should NEVER be in someone else's hands.
Try making YOURSELF feel good about who you are and I think you'll
find that the issue comes up a LOT less.
