Do I take the initiative and risk the friendship?

Ren Answers:

Dear Shyann,

Some Say It's Taboo

Dating a friend is a touchy subject. Some say it can be the natural next step in a relationship, while others believe it to be taboo. As with every scenario, it all depends on the people involved.

Also, it helps if the two involved gravitate towards taking the relationship to that next level. Do you want him to be more than a friend? Does he want the same?

Dating a Friend Has Its Advantages

In every relationship, feelings are the main player, and who better to understand how you may feel about something than a good friend. One advantage to dating a friend is that they tend to know what you mean and where you're coming from most of the time. They were your friend first, and a lot of friendship is understanding the other person; an idea a lot of relationships tend to lose or are without entirely.

Also, a friend is USUALLY someone who likes to be around you and spend time with you. Another plus relationships go without. The list goes on and on...not that I'm trying to sway you in any direction, just showing you a lot of qualities good friendships have...and maybe some you look for in a guy.

Ren Give It a Shot

Tommy D

I agree, but she can't rush into it.

It sure seems like he just may have what you're looking for – why don't you give it a shot? If things work out, they will and it'll be great for you both.

If things don't, well, he was your friend first and should be your friend last, too.

Besides, would you rather be kicking yourself wondering what if years down the road...?
