Treat this as a warning sign. Don't get out yet, this may be one of those it only happened once and it will never happen again type things, BUT... it might not be.

As sad as it is, abuse (in MOST cases, not all) tends to be a family thing. I saw a statistic, and the percent (I don't remember the exact number) is pretty high.

Look For Future Violent Behavior

Don't give up just yet, but do be extra cautious. Look for any, and I mean ANY, little thing that might indicate potentially violent behavior in the future. If he does anything at all to hurt you again then it's definatley time to get out.
