Dear Panel,

How do I get over the fact that my girlfriend just confided in me that she used to be a stripper 4 years ago?

We both love each other, but I am so confused. A couple of opinions or suggestions are appreciated.

- Jersey26

Male, age 26, eastern USA

Linda

Count your blessings – she could have been a lawyer!

Jayne

What's to be confused about? Either you love the ex-stripper or you don't.

Mr. Survivor

The past has been stripped naked, no big deal, move on.

Charlie

Her past has nothing to do with you...don't be an
idiot!

- Brooklyn Drama

Does he say, "Me too"?

Linda

What is it with you??!! If you know he cares, why do the words matter? There's nothing magic about "I love you". Remember, actions speak louder than words.

Dear Panel,

I am a 19 year old college student.

My boyfriend is Bill, who I have been with for 2 years, and hope to marry.

I am happy in my relationship with my boyfriend. However over my Christamas vacation I was working and met Guy. We started to get to know each other, and flirting.

Now Guy really has strong feelings for me, and we talk to each other a lot. But I don't want to hurt him because he is really nice. I also know I don't want to leave BIll, my boyfriend.

Should I keep talking to Guy?

- Lovestruck

Female, age 19, New York State

Lefty

Choose.

Linda

Keep talking to Guy, and don't forget to mention your boyfriend Bill a few hundred times.

Jayne
If you want to lead him on, sure, keep on gabbing with good ole' Guy.

Dear Panel,

I am a 19 year old college student.

My boyfriend Joe is 28 and we have been together for 3 years. I love him a lot, and I want to marry him, but I am wondering what else is out there.

Bob is a 17 year old senior in high school. He is a friend of my brother. We have only met 2 times in person, but lately we have been talking a lot on the computer, and have become very interested in one another.

My brother is having a party at my house on Sunday, and Bob will be there . We really like each other, and are talking about having a sexual relationship together.

Since I like this other guy so much, should I have sex with him, even though I still love Joe.

- Country Girl

Female, age 19, New York State

Linda

Only if you want to be done with Joe.

Lefty

Why are you so into marrying someone when you are still "wondering what else is out there"?

Dear Panel,

I am trying to change my old cheating ways with the new girlfriend that I'm in love with. But she shows no public affection. She is awesome, fun, good virgin. best personality.

I've fallen in love, but college is sooooo hard. We all went to a bar last night and my ex was there and wanted me back and still loves me. I didn't want to be rude so we talked and my new girlfreind Ashley danced with her girlfreinds and just watched at a distance and now she thinks I still like my ex.

I don't know what to do to make it up to her. I'm so confused, especially about how she doesn't show affection for me much in public.

What's next? How can I make this horrible night up to her?

- Clueless in Knoxville

Male, age 19, Tennessee

Linda

Have a lot of nights with her that aren't so horrible. And be happy with the PRIVATE displays of affection.

Dear Panel,

Why do guys want to keep a relationship a secret after they get back together?

- Wondering

Female, age 19, Canada

Because they feel like fools for breaking up with you in the first place.

So the new girlfriend doesn't find out!

Dear Panel,

I am a really, really nice guy who treats every girl like a queen. I'm one of those nice guys who always finishes last.

I met this girl at work who is about the same age as me. I heard her telling a girl at work she was looking for a nice guy to settle down with. So I started to flirt with her and she started to flirt back. We hit it off pretty good that day.

The next couple of days at school everyone was telling me how much she liked me. Everyone said I was all she talked about. So I asked her out on date. We went out and everything was going perfect.

BUT after that date everything went downhill. She pretty much ignores me now. On my birthday I got nothing from her. She didn't even say "Happy Birthday". She completely forgot. Then for Christmas I got her something and what did I get in return? NOTHING.

We hardly even talk anymore. I'm lucky if I can get a "Hello" out of her. I still love her to death, but I don't know if I should bother to pursue her. Please help me.

What should I do?

- Very Confused

Male, age 16, USA

Lefty

You finished last. Start another race.

Linda

The purpose of a first date is to figure out if you want a second date. She accomplished this purpose.

Dear Panel,

To the divorced among you:

  • What were the biggest contributors to the failure of the marriage?
  • Could you have forseen them at the beginning?
  • What problems do people think are important that turned out to be not such a big deal?

As you can tell, I'm "weighing" a relationship and need some help.

- Wifty

Female, age 31, NYC

Charlie

The biggest issue is communication. If you are writing to an on-line advice column, that's a bad sign.

Mr. Survivor

Dear Panel,

My girlfriend and I are pretty open with each other and normally cut to the chase about the topic of sex, yet today, in order to initiate sex, she wants me to excercise some romantic skill.

What do you recommend?

I would recommend spending some money on her followed by a whole bunch of foreplay.

Dear Panel,

I am Charlotte and I am 15 years old. I am a bubbly, outgoing person that had a close friendship with this boy before something happened.

The boy is Chris and he goes to the same school as me and he is 16. We did have a real close friendship.

Well, me and Chris had a close freindship and then we admitted to each other that we had feelings for each other, then nothing happened. We justed acted normal with each other with sense of uneasiness and then things got better and we were friends again.

Then the other day on the train we got off with each other and stuff, but he's going out with someone else ALSO called Charlotte and now he is a bit funny around me.

What the hell is going through his mind? Does he like me, or not?

- Babe

Female, age 15, UK

Linda

Sure he likes you, but he's 16.

Lefty

He likes Charlotte.

Dear Panel,

Is marriage 100% commitment?

Should everything be on the table and not saved to tell later?

For example:

  • a visit to a friend of the opposite sex and told later, or
  • the opposite sex friend being offered to sleep over because it is too late to go home
  • the friend has sexual problems.

- Carol

Female, age 37, Netherlands

Linda

Total honesty is bad for marriage.

Lefty

Commitment is not the same as "putting everything on the table". In the real world, there are gray areas, but the fewer the better.
